Teacher robbed of jewellery

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 25: A school teacher was reportedly robbed of cash and jewellery by a car-borne couple while she was on her way home in Sector 46 yesterday afternoon.

Gurmeet Kaur, a teacher in Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 46, complained to the police that she was heading towards her house in Sector 46 around 2.30 p.m. when she was intercepted by a man and a woman in a Maruti car.

"She reported that the woman got out and asked her the way to Sector 27. Then, the two forced her to part with her jewellery -- a gold chain, earrings and four gold bangles -- that she was carrying," a police official said.

The victim added that the two sped away before she could raise an alarm. The police have registered a case of committing theft and using criminal force for the purpose under Sections 379 and 356 of the IPC.
