A hat-trick by Iqbal Ansari steered Lazio to victory past Wallboys 3-1 in a MDFADivision IIIB football league match at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel today.

In a Div II B encounter, a second-half goal by Glen D'Souza saw Fatima Beach Boys wriggle past Fatima Khar 3-2. Beach Boys went into the lead with D'Souza and Zico Gomes to take a 2-0 lead. But their opponents were well to match equalising through Riyaz Ahmed and Jagan Chavan to make it 2-2 at half-time.

Big win for Rizvi
Rizvi college scored the biggest victory in the Inter-Collegiate football tournament, winning 5-0 against RK Talreja, Ulhasnagar at the Azad Maidan here today.
Luciano D'Souza and Imchen Lanochusascored a brace each while Melvin Vaz added to the tally.
There were two other players who scored two goals each -- Lance Fonseca for Mithibai and Arnold D'Souza for St. Xavier's.

Meghan Gupte shines
Varun Dattani, Soumitra Mujumdar, Rohil Bhat, Sachin Bedekar, Prasad Patil and Akshay Deshmukh, along with 15 others, lead the field with two points each at the end of the second-round of the boys under-9 State chess championship, organised by the Children Chess Academy, at the Dombivli Gymkhana, today.
In the boys under-7 category, top-seeded Sandeep Pawar alongwith 11 others is in the lead with two points at the end of the second-round. Second seed Nadeem Abdulla from Vashi was shocked by Meghan Gupte.
In the girls under-9 section, top-seeded Ketaki Kulkarni scored an easy victory over Monika Maskari in the first-round.
Top seed Devangi Patankar defeated Gayatri M in the first-round of the girls under-7 category.
