MADURAI, SEPT 27: Tension prevailed in the Madurai Jail today in the wee hours following a free-for-all situation that erupted at the Eighth Block in the premises.The trouble erupted when over 100 undertrials, housed in the block, objected to the routine searches conducted by a team of jail staff as being discriminatory and not so severe against fundamentalists imprisoned.
All the injured have been admitted to Rajaji Government Hospital. Sources said that the undertrials also shouted slogans against the top jail authorities.
