VADODARA, Sept 27: The closing ceremony of the Hindi fortnight celebrations in ONGC, Vadodara was held on September 25 at the Officers' Club. The fortnight-long celebrations included translation and essay competitions, quiz contests, on-the-spot speech competitions and poetry recitation. Chief guest at the closing ceremony, N Lal, Executive Director, Western Region, gave away the awards to contests' winners.While the Ankleshwar Project bagged a special award for maximum work in Hindi among all projects of the Western Region, the Exploration Business Group bagged the award among business groups. The 15th issue of Smarika, a Hindi magazine, was also released by Lal on the occasion, which also featured a cultural programme. Child artists of Kishlay Kunj presented musical programmes on the theme of unity in diversity. The Hindi fortnight was celebrated in all ONGC projects by holding special programmes and workshops.
Interactive Session: With a view to acquainting ONGC employees with various house and loan schemes and facilities provided by HDFC, an interaction session was organised at ONGC's Ahmedabad project. A demonstration on latest computers and software was also presented by Compaq Pressario in ONGC Colony, Ahmedabad. A drive to spread awareness on cleanliness and hygiene was launched recently in the ONGC Colony, Ahmedabad.
Garba Mahotsava: The ONGC Mahila Samiti with support from other unions and associations, has organised the garba festival at the sports pavilion. The music has been provided by the Zankar group. Garbas have also been organised at the Ankleshwar project. The music is being presented by the Shivranjani Singer Group and Matangiben Oza.
Donation: ONGC donated Rs 15 lakhs for the rehabilitation of the victims of natural calamities in the Rudaprayag and Pethoragarhy districts of Uttar Pradesh. B C Bora, CMD, ONGC presented the cheque to Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Santosh Kumar Gangwar. ONGC also rushed a team of medical and paramedical staff to Rudraprayag to assist the authorities in providing aid to the affected. The medical team examined a large number of patients and distributed medicines and surgical dressing material. In addition ONGC also sent blankets and other essential items to the affected region. The ONGC Mahila Polytechnic also contributed utensils and food items for the affected.
