Prashant does city proud
Prashant Hari Sarsar a XI standard student of Dr D Y Patil Arts, Commerce and Science College, Pimpri did the city proud when he bagged a bronze medal at the All India Open Taekwondo Championship at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh recently.

Apart from winning a medal in the 52 to 59 kg category Prashant a Black Belt in the sport was also awarded the Best Fighter Award.

Mini Marathon on Sept 29
The Vishwabharati Prathisthan, Mundhwa under the auspices of the Poona District Amateur Athletic Association (PDAAA) has planned a mini marathon for various age groups in both boys and girls sections on September 29.

Apart from the various age-group runs separate runs will be run in the men and women's section (over 18 yrs). The various age group include the under-12, 12 to 15 yrs, 15 to 18 yrs categories. All interested participants wishing to take part have been asked to contact: Sunil Jagtap, 211 Gaikwad Alli, Mundhwa or Kailash Pathare, Patharenagar, Kharadi, Pune-40 (Tel: 691698) or Shirish Phadtare, Aishwariya Residency, Erandwan (Tel: 330579).

Salil gains success
Sensai Salil Nadkarni, a city karateka successfully passed the belt grading exam and was awarded the San Dan (III Degree) Black Belt by the National Head Quarters of the All India Isshinryu Karate Association, Chennai The examination was held under the supervision of Shihan Hussaini a V Degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate and Taek-kwon-do.

Apart from gaining success in the grading exam, Salil has also bagged the 1996 World Isshinryu championship at Florida (USA).

Jr League cancelled
Owing to the heavy rains the Maharashtra Cricket Association's (MCA) Junior Invitational League (Under-19) scheduled for September 28 and 29, has been cancelled till further notice according to a press release.

All players, umpires and ground authorities have been asked to get in touch with the association for the revised dates.
