EMS biography to be written by his son

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Sept 28: E M Sreedharan, son of the late Marxist ideologue E M S Namboodiripad, is destined to undertake the task of writing the biography of his illustrious father.

Sreedharan has been assigned for the job by the National Book Trust (NBT), which plans to bring out editions of the book in 13 different languages. For Sreedharan it is a challenging task to begin from where his father had stopped.

EMS concludes his autobiography, which according to EMS himself ``lacks biographical narrations as it is a historical document,'' thus: ``the students of the history of the communist movement in the country would have to narrate my biography also from 1938 onwards, as my life is that much inter-related with the history of the movement. I am leaving that task for the historians and engaging myself in the efforts to strengthen the party.''

His son has taken up the difficult task fully realising the complications he would have to face while doing a biography on the multi-faceted EMS. ``Yes, it isa challenging task. Yet it is a great honour. As his son, I am aware of how his mind had functioned in the critical moments for the party and of the matters which ultimately had a say on his decisions,'' Sreedharan says.

There are more than 200 books on EMS published in Malayalam and noted Malayalam writer M Mukundan is doing a novel based on the life of EMS. The NBT is planning to publish the book in Malayalam, English, Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarathi, Kannada, Assamese, Tamil, Bengali, Oriya and Urdu within six months.
