Railway juniors clinch `double'
Railway boys and girls claimed a `double' with identical 3-0 margins over Air India in the junior section of the Central Zone inter-state badminton tournament.

With Combined Universities not turning up, the zonal clash became a straight affair and Railways won the singles and doubles to take decisive 2-0 leads in both sections before Air India conceded the last singles. Railways have qualified for the jr national. In the boys tie, former national junior champion Sachin Ratti rallied to down Chetan Anand 10-15, 15-2, 15-7 before the Punjab lad combined with JBS Vidyadhar to beat Chetan Anand and Mitesh Hazarnish 15-9, 15-12 in the doubles. Railway girls B R Meenakshi defeated Divya Ramesh 11-9, 11-5 and then paired with Parul Priyadarshini to beat Ketaki Thakkar and D Swetha 15-7, 15-10.

Sonnet triumph
Sonnet Club beat Three Star Club by six wickets in the Meva Ram Garg tournament. Brief scores: Sonnet: 100 for 4 (Govind Bihari 29, Ranjit Mehra 2 for 21, Akhil Kumar 2 for 10). Three Star: 95 all out (Javed 26, Suhail 2 for 14).

Title for VS Agri School
V S Agri School, Khera clinched the trophy in their first appearance in the Captains' Sports club basketball tournament by defeating DPS (Mathura Rd) 61-50.

Ashok (17), Bijender (15) and Hemant (13) scored for the winners while Tenzine (14), Sanjit and Abhay (12 each) were the main contributors for the DPS.

Delhi State Skating meet
NK Bargodia School led with 103 points in the first race at the Delhi State Skating championship at JD Tytler School. Bal Bharati School, 47 pts, was the runners-up followed by Manav Sthali with 34.

Ravi nets winner n Government School, Rouse Avenue, defeated DAV (Noida) by a solitary goal in the fifth Polio Unmoolan inter-school football tournament at Tyagraj Nagar sports complex. The all-important goal was scored by Ravi who received a pass from Srikanth from the right. In another match, St Xavier's School beat DAV, Chitragupta Road 4-0. Punit scored two goals while Yashpal and Amit scored a goal each for the winners.

Ravi, Amit excel
Ravi Shankar (54) and Amit Anand (36 and 2 for 4) helped Sarvodya Vidyalaya, Jheel beat Hans Raj Model School, Punjabi Bagh by 55 runs in the Radha Krishan inter-school tournament.

Brief Scores: Sarvodya: 209 (Ravi 54, Amit 36, Vikas 30, Gautam 2 for 25). Hans Raj: 154 (Punit 42, Amit 2 for 4).
