Briefing reporters, WSRC Incharge Director Parul Dave said, ``The workshop would help to project different aspects concerning women.'' She said several academicians and NGOs involved in development programmes for women would share their experiences in the workshop.

The options for better progress for women in the western region will also be discussed during the session. Dave added that seven city-based NGOs and academicians from various parts of the state would participate in the workshop.

She said that the centre also proposed to host a workshop early next month to observe the international year of older persons. She said the centre would attempt to raise awareness about the needs and problems as well as strengths of the elderly.

The centre's other objectives include improving the network to support research and data collection on aging.

Dave said the workshop on women would provide a platform to work with local NGOs, who were already active in the field.
