Cancer patient gets US visa

CHENNAI, Sept 29: The United States Consulate in Chennai has granted 15-year-old cancer patient Divya Kiran a visa, after having denied it to her last week. The Consulate reviewed her application on Monday.Kiran had applied for a visa on September 24 indicating she needed to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, State of Minnesota, for thyroid cancer treatment. But she was told her visa was rejected since the Consulate believed she may not return to India (The Indian Express, September 25). Kiran has now left for the US.
