KDMC panel elections: The standing committee elections of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Council saw a gain for Shiv Sena and the BJP whose four members each made it to the panel from the 10 who had contested. Among those who made it to the panel are Bal Hardas (who secured 86 votes), Anant Pavshe and Sopan Patil (78 each) from the Sena; Padmakar Lohkare and Prakash Mane (76 each) from the BJP; Ramesh Mhatre (75) and Janardhan Patil (69) from the Congress and independent candidate Uday Samel (78). Due to today's elections, BJP has increased its membership on the panel by one. The configuration of the panel now stands at : Shiv Sena-7, BJP-5, Cong-3 and independent-1.Morcha by deaf and blind n THE Maharashtra Deaf Pride, an organisation working for the deaf and dumb, will hold a demonstration on October 5 at Azad Maidan. They are demanding concessions in bus fares, concession for public telephone booths and employment opportunities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
