Security beefed up in Atul

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, Sept 29: Police bandobast has been stepped up around a prayer hall in Ishwarbhani chawl in Atul, about 10 km from Valsad, following an alleged attempt by the majority community to desecrate the hall used by Christians to offer prayers.

A complaint under sections 143, 341, 295, 298 and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code has been lodged with the Atul Police Station. None of the five suspects is arrested.

When the hall was opened for Sunday prayers, it was reportedly found to be littered with garbage chucked in through a broken window. Local Christian missionaries have recently faced a great deal of ire over their alleged forcible conversion of Hindus.
