SURAT, Sept 29: Continuing its Health Care Drive, the Surat Municipal Corporation today sealed 115 hotels, restaurants and juice centres, while several hotels and restaurants were given NOC after officials checked the cleanliness measures undertaken by them.SMC ordered closure of 20 hotels and 65 larries in Udhna zone, 61 hotels and farsan shops in Athwa zone, four hotels in Varachha zone, 11 hotels and restaurants in Katargam, and nine restaurants in Central zone. More than 1000 kg of food stuff and farsan was also destroyed.
While Vijay Dairy, Bhupati Mithai, Shiv House, in Rander were ordered to close, Janata Bhajiya, Hotel Gopal, Jairam, Laxmi Restaurant, K K Fast food, were sealed on the railway station road.
Prominent hotels, including Yuvraj, Hotel Embassy, Gaylord, Aditya and Supreme, which were sealed on Friday, today obtained a NOC from the civic body.
The SMC's Marketing department also destroyed 1500 kg of mutton and beef in Badekha Chakala, Nanpura, Navsari Bazaar, Gopipura and Ranitalav areas.
Meanwhile, theatre halls in the city remained close on Tuesday following an appeal by the SMC. They will be given NOC only after civic officials are satisfied that the toilets, ventilation, AC/fans are working and in proper condition. Officials will also check whether safety norms as set by the fire brigade are followed.
