Recrimination is unhealthy
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
THRISSUR, SEPT 29: Venukuttan Nair, noted actor and an authority on theatre, has assailed the practice of mutual recrimination among practitioners of amateur theatre in Kerala which, he pointed out, was unhealthy for the progress of theatre movement. In his paper on Contemporary trends in Malayalam theatre, presented at a seminar at the national theatre festival here, Venukuttan Nair pointed out that the history of world theatre itself was one of continuous evolution. The Thespian also eulogised the contributions made by the present generation of dramatists and reminded them of the desirability of mutual exchange of ideas and productions which was the hallmark of theatre activity in Kerala in the past. As for the new trends, he felt there have been mainly two: the first tried to integrate the different schools that evolved so far and the second banked purely on local elements.
