PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
PATNA, OCT 1: RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav today strongly denied Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's charge that Bihar was being ruled by the mafia and said law and order in the State was much better than BJP-ruled Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
``The situation in Maharashtra and Rajasthan is worse than Bihar.... Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones,'' Yadav told reporters here when asked to comment on Vajpayee's remark.
On the prime minister's statement that the Centre still had its options open on imposition of President's Rule in Bihar, the RJD chief said ``We are prepared for any eventuality, but feel that the chapter is closed now.''
Stating that the BJP-led coalition was itself sharply divided on the question of use of Article 356, Yadav said, there was no need for any national debate on the issue as suggested by Union Home Minister L K Advani.
