JAPAN: The Japanese Government honoured world-renowned film director Akira Kurosawa, nearly a month after his death, with an award usually reserved for sporting and show business greats. Citing Kurosawa's contribution to the world of cinema, Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi presented the People's Honour Award to Kurosawa's only son, 52-year-old Hisao, in a ceremony at his official residence. ``I liked Seven Samurai,'' Obuchi told Hisao in a private chat. ``For years, he brought a number of immortal masterpieces to the world and deeply moved people with his vivid pictures and profound humanism,'' Obuchi said. ``He left a brilliant mark on the film history of the world.''CANADA: Now that almost everyone in the world owns her Titanic song, Celine Dion says she still hasn't had a chance to sing with her idol, Barbara Streisand. She recalls when she sang Beauty and the Beast three years ago at the Academy Awards with Peabo Bryson. There in the audience, right in front of her, wasBarbra. ``She was sitting in the first row, looking up at me and I almost lost it,'' Dion says. ``I love her, I admire her whole career.'' As a child, Dion watched the Grammys, all the awards and she saw the stars, the fabulous dresses and wished to someday be part of that great musical family.
