Naxals blast police station

Hyderabad: Suspected Naxalites of the banned Peoples' War Group today blasted a police station building under construction and raided a mandal revenue office (MRO) in two separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh. Police said unidentified extremists broke open the doors of MRO office at IDPL colony near Balanagar in the city outskirts and ransacked it after damaging official documents and records.

Onion crisis to end

New Delhi: The onion crisis is expected to ease out soon as the government has already started importing the commodity, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana said here today. ``The prices will definitely come down in coming few days as onions are being imported,'' the minister said at a function.

Aurangabad bandh

Aurangabad: Author of the controversial Marathi book Jahannam madhye janar kon? Hindu ki Ahindu Somnath Rana was arrested today on charges of the book being allegedly anti-Muslim. Meanwhile, the Aurangabad bandh, called bythe Majlis-e-Shura, a Muslim organisation protesting against the book evoked a good response in the Muslim dominated localities here.

Boy burnt alive

Jaipur: An eight-year old boy was burnt alive when rival groups clashed over a land dispute in a village in Alwar district, police said today. The boy died when a thatched roof in the disputed agricultural land in Diyavali village was set ablaze during the clash last night. The rival groups belonged to separate castes, sources said.
