Banish Aedes mosquito from offices, homes: MCD

NEW DELHI, October 2: Municipal Commissioner V.K. Duggal has warned Delhiites of taking corrective measures to prevent breeding of Aedes mosquitoes in their homes and offices, failing which punitive action would be taken against them.The municipal commissioner said that as per the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) Act and IPC, there is a provision of fine of Rs 1,000 and imprisonment for six months. Duggal said that so far 14 cases of dengue have been reported this year. Giving the comparitive figures for the last three years, Duggal said that while 40 persons had died due to dengue in 1996, there had been no fatalities this year.
