Run for Air Force race held

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, Oct 2: More than 100 participants including officers, airmen and civilians took part in the `Run for Air Force' race held from Sector 31 Kendriya Vidyalaya in the morning today.

The 2 km race, which was a part of a week long celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Indian Air Force, after passing through the streets of Sector 32 terminated at 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD).

Races in the children's group were also held at the 3 BRD. In the above 12 years group, Jai Singh was first while Chander Singh took the second spot. Vandana and Navjot Singh were first and second respectively in the below 12 years section.

Earlier, the race was flagged off by Madhu Aggarwal, wife of Air Commodore, Arivinda Aggarwal.

Results
Senior: Above 46 yrs: 1 DP Chauhan, 2 TR Naik. Below 45 years: 1 SS Sharma, 2 BR Verma.

Anil hits century
Anil Sharma's century (108) enabled Unique Cricket Club to post a 55-run victory over Sagar Cricket Club to enter the semifinal of the 3rd Cash Prize cricket tournament held at Panchkula today.

In another match FCI XI beat Sunshine Cricket Club by 58 runs.

Brief Scores: Unique CC: 161 for 4 in 25 overs (Anil Sharma 108, Tinku 18, Nari 2 for 17); Sagar CC: 106 in 22 overs (Nari 32, Deepak 2 for 14).

FCI XI: 130 in 25 overs (Tonny 31, Narinder 27, Munna 3 for 4, Sanjeev 2 for 16: Sunrise CC: 72 in 22 overs (Jagdish 28, Pardeep 14, Tonny 4 for 3, Narinder 3 for 10).

Edmund Rice Cricket
Panchkula Coaching Centre and St Stephen's School-45 moved into the semifinals of the under-12 boys group in the Edmund Rice cricket tournament being played at the St John's High School-26.

Panchkula CC beat St Kabir School-26 by 33 runs while St Stephen's-45 defeated Stadium Juniors, Sector 16 by 10 runs.

Brief Scores: Panchkula CC: 110 for 6 (Sunny 30, Nikhil 15, Prateek 2 for 23) bt St Kabir School (Manish 26 n.o., Nitin 18, Aparshakti 3 for 18).

St Stephen's School-45: 80 for 9 (Paresh 10, Ankush 3 for 2, Aman 2 for 10, Deepankar 2 for 21); Stadium Juniors-16: 70 in 21.2 overs (Ankush 13, Aman Behl 5 for 17).
