Clinton can only waive farm curbs: US
The US has clarified that the legislation seeking to authorise President Bill Clinton to waive sanctions imposed on India and Pakistan would relate to only agriculture and not broader economic or military issues. White House press secretary Mike McCurry has said that Clinton would lift sanctions on India and Pakistan only after more progress was achieved in its talks with the two countries on the issue of signing the Comprehensive Text Ban Treaty (CTBT).

James Wolfensohn all praise for India's stewardship of the economy
World Bank president James Wolfensohn has praised India's stewardship of the economy and said it had chosen a very good course and done very well at a time when many other countries were in financial distress.
