Hyundai plans cheaper Santro

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

IRUNGATTUKOTTAI, OCT 4: South Korean auto giant Hyundai is mulling a lesser priced variant of its recently introduced small car, Santro. Company sources said that Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) might roll out a fifth variant of Santro sans air-conditioner within the year end.

``A cheaper version of Santro is under consideration. The management will take a final decision on whether to introduce such a car after ascertaining the response to the current model,'' the sources said. ``If there is demand for Santro without an air-conditioner, we might introduce such a car, at a reduced price,'' they said.

HMIL is currently manufacturing Santro without air-conditioners at its facility here.
