The amendments and `suggestions' have come from party members. Though the party leaders did not divulge the nature of these in the draft resolution prepared earlier this year, party's central committee sources disclosed that `this is so far the largest number of amendments and `suggestions' received by the Central Committee in any party congress in the past. The party's Central Committee, which met here today, presided over by Jyoti Basu, is understood to have discussed the agenda of the congress.Later in the evening the CPM general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet has inaugurated a painting exhibition near the venue.Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
