NAGPUR, Oct 4: A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the police firing, that killed two Shiv Sena activists and injured 75 others, 31 of them seriously, in Andhalgaon village near Bhandara district yesterday. Official sources said here today that the incident occurred when some Sena demonstrators, resorted to raasta roko to demand the arrest of culprits who had murdered a couple and their two children at the village. The Sena activists were also demanding suspension of the police officer-in-charge of Andhalgaon police station.
When some of the demonstrators were arrested, a crowd gathered outside to demand their release. When it was not conceded, people started pelting stones, injuring four police officers and 32 policemen and damaging several vehicles. This resulted in the police firing 18 rounds at the Sena workers, the sources said.
