According to information, Kane has asked the co-ordinator of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication to suggest names from the faculty's former or present batch of students for the post.

Kane said the purpose behind appointed a PRO was to provide a medium for teachers, students and the media to communicate with.

Observing that currently there was nobody through whom official information could be communicated directly, he said at present the university registrar was doubling up as the public relation officer. He admitted that in the process the registrar's job was being affected.

While a past student of the faculty would be required to work full-time, if a student of the present batch is selected, s/he will be asked to work part-time.

The university had a long pending demand to appoint a PRO, but no initiative was taken in this regard earlier, Kane claimed.
