Mohalla Day
It is a unique feature of week-long Kullu Dussehra that falls on the sixth day of the festival (Tuesday next). People from far flung areas make a beeline to the historic Dussehra ground at Dhalpur, which comes alive with the sounds of shehnai and drum-beating.
The word Mohalla was derived from maha halla meaning noise of the huge crowd. Local villagers prefer to visit Kullu on Mohalla and Lanka Day i.e the last day of Dussehra, when most of them are free from the harvesting of apple and paddy crop. Mohalla Day is associated with Devi Roop, meaning workship of shakti. shakti poojan is performed in the evening.
