EU rejects antidumping dutyNEW DELHI: Indian textile exporters received a shot in the arm with the European Union (EU) deciding not to impose anti-dumping duties on unbleached cotton grey fabric (UCGF) from India. Textile Minister Kanshi Ram Rana here today quoted a message from Indian mission at Brussels as saying that eight EU countries voted last night against imposition of anti-dumping duties while six voted in favour and one abstained. European Union had already imposed 16 per cent provisional anti-dumping duties on UCGF imports from India. But it would have become operational only if the imposition of anti-dumping duties was made definitive before october nine.
Silver prices fall
MUMBAI: Silver prices declined steeply by Rs 130 per kg on the bullion market here today due to sharp fall in London prices. Ready silver .999 fineness resumed weak and declined further sharply to close at Rs 7705, showing a sharp setback of Rs 130 over the last close of Rs 7835. Raw silver .916 finenessfell by Rs 115 to Rs 7595 from Rs 7710 and tenderable silver dropped to Rs 7710 from Rs 7840. In London, the white metal fell to 508.75 us cents from 530.50 cents.
Standard gold also opened weak and fell to close at Rs 4330, revealing a fall of Rs 20 from the previous close of Rs 4350. 22-carat gold was nominally quoted weak at Rs 4005 from the last close of Rs 4025. Ten-tola gold bar .999 purity shed Rs 500.
