VADODARA, Oct 6: The Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce has appealed commissioners of Sales Tax, Central Excise and Customs, Income Tax and the Vadodara Municipal Corporations to direct their respective staff to use their rights to search business houses judiciously.Chamber president, Bhupendra Patel, in a statement issued here on Tuesday, said though it was customary on part of the agencies to carry out searches, the searches not only dampened the festive spirit, but also gave rise to doubts in minds of people that the trader was a blackmarketeer and was making profits through unfair means, which was not always true.
He said the searches were also affecting traders' credibility.
