VADODARA, Oct 6: Thought-provoking lectures on the recent studies on sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, were delivered at a seminar held at Planetarium, Kamatibaug, organised by VMC here on Tuesday morning. VMC Health Committee Chief Lalita Oza inaugurated the three-hour seminar in a large number of students, social workers and VMC health officials participated.VMC Chief Health Officer Shirish Patel said the speakers at the seminar included Yogesh Marfatia, SSG Hospital head of the skin and venereal diseases and other senior doctors from the hospital including G Shukla and social worker Sumitra Singh, besides himself.
According to Patel, the speakers not only spoke on various aspects of the spread of AIDS, but also stressed on the importance of mother and child health and need for safer sex. They also highlighted the alarming rise in the incidence of STDs in Vadodara.
Patel further said that a variety of cultural and educative programmes like seminars were organised by the VMC to mark the `Mother Care Week' which was inaugurated on October 1.
