Crime Watch -- Vadodara

One killed in road mishap
A woman was killed and a man seriously injured when the tempo (GJ-16-T-78857) in which they were travelling overturned near Makarpura, the police said on Tuesday. Stating that the deceased could not be identified, the police said that a case against the driver Rasiklal Rathwa, a resident of Ankleshwar, has been registered.

Thefts
Four cases of theft, including one that took place in a temple, were reported from various parts of the city on Tuesday. One Manoj Kumar Panda, a resident of Navjivan Bus stand area, Panigate, reported to the police that miscreants broke into Amba Mata Mandir and stole jewellery worth Rs 12,550. In the second case, one G Shah reported to the Raopura police that miscreants stole his briefcase containing cash of Rs 24,000 from his scooter. While one M Desai reported to the J P Road police that various important documents and cash worth about Rs 7,000 were stolen from his car, one S Chelani of Warasia reported to City police that his house had been burgled of valuables worth Rs 11,300. All the case are being investigated.

Suicide bid
A girl, Alice, daughter of P Jethabhai, a resident of Sayajigunj area, tried to commit suicide, by consuming poison, after her parents forced her to marry against her choice, the police said on Tuesday. The case is being investigated, the police added.

Vehicles lifted
A maruti car (GJ-6-AA-9295) and two Luna mopeds (GJ-6-CC-712 and GED-3413) were stolen from different parts of the city on Tuesday, the police said.

Arrested
The police arrested seven people for selling country liquor and seized 206 litres of liquor worth Rs 4540, an official release said on Tuesday.
