Una, Rest of HP share Silver Cup

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
UNA, Oct 6: The one-day Kailash Chand Mahajan Silver Cup cricket match between the last year's Inter-District winners Una and the Rest of Himachal Pradesh XI was abandoned due to bad light and the two teams shared the trophy.

Rest of Himachal posted an imposing total of 208 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. Varinder played a strokeful knock of 66 while others around him chipped in with useful contributions. Opener Nischal Gaur scored 38 while Chetan had 30 runs to his credit. Towards the end, Rakeshwar gathered 22 quick runs.

For Una, Rahul Panta captured two wickets but the real bowling hero was the left-arm quick Parveen Sharma. He gave away just 22 runs in his ten hostile overs, but had only one wicket to show for his efforts.

Una lost two early wickets but Shambhu Sharma and Rajeev Nayyar stemmed the rot. Shambu was dismissed after scoring 35 but Rajeev was unruffled and was still there on 30 when bad light forced closure. The Himachal Pradesh Governor Rama Devi distributed the prizes. She was welcomed by Parveen Mahajan, Additional Commissioner, Customs and Excise, Delhi.

Scores: Rest of Himachal: 208 for 5 in 50 overs (Varinder 66, Nischal Gaur 38, Chetan 30, Rakeshwar 22 n.o.; Rahul Panta 2-41). Una: 115 for 3 in 33 overs (Rajeev Nayyar 30 n.o., Shambhu Sharma 35 n.o.; Rakeshwar 2-17).
