SHIMLA, Oct 6: CM P.K. Dhumal took many late comers in the Secretariat by surprise, today, when he reached there to carry out checking in various branches in the Ellerslie and Armsdale buildings.Dhumal entered various rooms and inspected files lying on tables in the branches and directed officials to put the record in order. He took many officers to task for not disposing off files in time.CM also directed the Secretariat administration to maintain cleanliness in various branches housed in the two buildings of the Secretariat.
Dhumal found employees absent from their seats and asked section officers to ensure punctuality so that there was efficiency and people were not inconvenienced. The CM also found many officials scanning the newspapers.Chief Secretary, O. P. Yadav and secretary general, administration, V. K. Bhatnagar also accompanied the chief minister.
Later, O. P. Yadav told ENS that action would be taken against those who were not punctual. He said fresh instructions were being issued to the staff to ensure punctuality in offices.
This is the first time that the chief minister conducted surprise checks in the Secretariat. Earlier, he had conducted surprise raids in many offices located in the New Shimla area.
