NEW DELHI, Oct 10: The penultimate day of the national junior and sub-junior squash championships at the Delhi Gymkhana Club on Saturday witnessed the exit of the top two seeds in the boys under-12 category. Top seed Gautam Kalani of Mumbai was ousted by Dhampur Sugar Mills' Imran Khan in four games while second seed Nikhil Seth (Mumbai) was shown the door by Chandigarh's Manpreet Malhi, also in four games.Seeded stars in other categories did not face much difficulty in keeping their appointed places in the finals. Local lad and top seed Ritwick Bhattacharya of St Stephen's College was hardly tested during his 9-2, 9-0, 9-0 victory over Abhijit Kukreja of Mumbai in boys under-19 semifinal. In the other semifinal, Bikram Uberoi defeated Parth Doshi in straight games after being extended in the first game.
Ritwick proved too strong for his opponent and was hardly required to exert himself against Abhijit Kukreja. The Delhi boy had an answer for every shot of his opponent and ran easy winner. Afterconceding just two points in the first game, he tightened the grip on the match and won the next two games in quick succession, without dropping a game.
