Omkar stuns third seed Sushant

MUMBAI, Oct 12: Omkar Torgalkar, seeded fifth, upset third seed Sushant Kulkarni 23-21, 21-15 in the sub-junior boys section of the MIG Cricket Club State Ranking table tennis tournament, today. However, there was no stopping top seed Ankur Mahajan, aiming for his tenth successive title, breezing into the quarter-finals with with a 21-9, 21-12 win over Sujan Narvekar.

Sneha Keshav, Manasi Bhagwat, Juili Inamdar and Sonam Bajaj booked berths in the semi-finals of the girls sub-juniors. Sneha beat Bhavana Suvarna 21-11, 21-10, 21-9 while Manasi came from behind to down Nupur Gaidhani 20-22, 21-12, 21-16, 21-16 to make the last-eight. Juili, winner of the cadet's title, kept on course for a double with a 21-11, 21-11, 21-9 win over Neraja Kukday. Sonam, who shocked Sukhada Tatke, the fourth seed, in the prequarters, completed the semi-final lineup by beating Sayali Kukday 21-19, 21-18, 16-21, 21-12.

ROHAN, JUILI TRIUMPH:Rohan Chinchwadkar and Juili Inamdar claimed the cadet boys and girls table tennistitles respectively on Sunday.

Fourth-seeded Chinchwadkar ended top-seeded Omkar Torgalkar's run of five successive titles, fighting back after losing the first game.

Juili, after reaching four finals earlier this season without success, beat Ruta Deshmukh in straight games for her first-ever State ranking title.

Central Railway clinched the men's team championship with a 3-1 win over Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF).

Prakash Kelkar clinched the veteran's title beating Percy Mehta 21-15, 21-12 in the final.
