Youth run over in city
A youth, Ramsingh Machhaar, was run over by a Maruti van and died on the spot on Monday at around midnight at the S K Nagar Char Rasta, according to the Umra police stated. Rasubhai Machhaar, a relative of the deceased, informed the police that Ramsingh was hit by an unidentified driver of a Maruti van. He said he could not take down the car's registration number. While the driver fled from the spot, a case under sections of the Indian Penal code as well as the Motor Vehicle Act has been registered, the police said, adding investigations were on.

Burns death
Tinuben Bhana, (22), residing at Paani Ni Taanki area of Varachha died of severe burn injuries on Monday morning in the Maskati hospital. According to the Kapodara police, she was admitted on the night of October 7. Bhana had in her dying declaration stated that the stove on which she was cooking exploded, causing her injuries. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered, the police added.

Assaulted
A home Guard was assaulted and stabbed in the arm by three people on Sunday night after he attempted to check them during routine patrolling, according to a case registered in the Udhna police station on Monday. Tulsi Tawde, working as a Home Guard, has in his complaint stated that he had stopped three youths at the Jalaramnagar corner in Udhna for checking and when he questioned them, one of them removed a knife from his pocket and injured him in the arm. The three then fled. The Udhna police have registered a case against the three unidentified people.

Suicide bid
Vadodara: One Zakir Hussain Shiekh, a resident of Nava Yard, tried to end his life by consuming a poison and was rushed to S S G Hospital on Monday, the police said. Stating that Sheikh's condition was stable, the police said family disputes seemed to be the reason behind the extreme step. In another case, one Chirag Patel, a resident of Narmadabai Ni Chali slum area, Sayajigunj, tried end his life too. The police said that the youth was rushed to SSG Hospital where his condition was said to be stable.
