VSE closed for Diwali
The Vadodara Stock Exchange will remain close from October 17 to 22 due to Diwali holidays. Mahurat Trading Session will take place from 5.30 to 7.30 pm on October 19.

MSU holiday
MSU Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane has declared October 20 as an additional University holiday on account of Diwali. All faculties, institutions and varsity offices, including the university press, will be closed.

Marathon result
Confusion persists over the winner of the over-35 category race in the National Marathon held in Vadodara on Sunday. Kalindi Paarasharya, 47, claims she stood first, though the results declared otherwise. The organisers said a meeting had been convened on the matter.

EME Corps Day
The 55th EME Corps Day anniversary will be celebrated on October 15 at the Eugene Stadium, EME School at 7.30 am. A special Sainik Sammelan will be held on the same day which will be addressed by Commandant, EME School, Major General M C Sebastin. The Commandant's banner and best sportsman of the Corps will also be awarded during the Sainik Sammelan.

Sangh threat
The VMC has taken a serious view of the alleged threat of the Ranoli Karmachari Sangh in connection with demand for reinstating Ayodhyaprasad Paramhans Pandey. Pandey was suspended for firing on a colleague on July 31. In its letter, the Sangh has threatened to protest by spotting black ribbons and shout slogans if Pandey is not reinstated.

Nature camp
The State office of the World Wide Fund For Nature - India will conduct a nature camp in the Igatpuri valley of the Western Ghats from November 18 to 22. The first 50 applicants will be eligible. The last date is October 31. For details contact the WWF - office at Indumati Mahal, J N Marg or call on 436613.

Office-bearers
K V Johnson was elected chairman of the Baroda Malayalee Samajam while Chacko Joseph, Vijayan Pillai, Sunny Xavier, Mohammad Ali, Raghunath Achary and Subhash Joseph were elected vice-chairman, president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary and treasurer, respectively.
