Two rights and a wrong

Diljeet Kaur Gahir
Was busy gulping my breakfast while completing the last preparations for my Biology test, which I was to face in the afternoon.

Suddenly the phone bell rang and pulled me out of the world of fungi, bacteria and viruses. ``Hi Dillo! I forgot to give you an important message. You have been invited for the `Founders Day Programme' being held at our school today at 10 am.'' It was my friend Kanan on the line. Somehow I adjusted my time-table and set off to attend the school function.

Once inside the school premises, I met all our teachers, our principal and some of my friends. Since I was the topper in my school, I received a cheque and a few gifts. I was on cloud nine. Sadly I couldn't enjoy this for long and decided to quietly squeeze out of the crowd.

All of a sudden I heard my name being called out for the second time. Slightly confused, I went upto our school president who stood there carrying a huge mega-size trophy. I saw myself receiving the `Inderjit Trophy for the Best Outgoing Student'. Wow! What a moment it was. About a thousand people were clapping for me and all eyes fixed on me.

I proudly stepped out of my school and reached the parking lot. Now, I suppose the cruel Rahu-Ketu must have entered into my rashi. I couldn't find my two-wheeler. After inquiring, I learnt that it had been picked up by the traffic policemen. In a hurry I must have parked it outside the faint white margin drawn on the road. So, now with a heavy trophy, not a single paise in my pocket (as my purse was in the side box of my vehicle) and no idea about the way to circuit house, I began my quest to find my missing vehicle.

I stopped to ask the way to the circuit house from a policeman. After patiently listening to my Ramkahani, he signalled to a rickshaw driver and handed me a Rs 10 note. His patience and kindness really forced me to change my idea about policemen.

After thanking him, I boarded the rickshaw and in a few minutes, I reached my destination. I found my vehicle parked there. The traffic policeman inside inquired about the trophy I was carrying. Then, the most unexpected thing happened! All of them congratulated me and without demanding any time or my driving licence, let me slip out easily. I thanked all of them and happily went upto my vehicle.

Since I would have looked silly carrying my huge trophy everywhere in the college, I drove back home. Just 45 minutes were left for my test. In a hurry, the trophy fell on my right palm and another 10 minutes were wasted in applying different varieties of antiseptics and bandages.

With just 35 minutes left, I started off from my house. I usually take 45 minutes to reach college. But that day I broke all records and reached my classroom in time. With a bandaged hand, tired body and an over-excited mind I gave my test and surprisingly scored 100 per cent marks in it.

With so many adventures happening one after the other, I could call it a day when everything went right - wrong - right.
