CJM win a thriller

NEW DELHI, October 14: In a closely-fought game, Convent of Jesus and Mary defeated Sri Ram School 35-32 in the Nike-Don Bosco invitational inter-school basketball tournament at the school premises here today.

In a neck and neck race for supremacy, CJM girls clinch the issue with some sharp shooting, particularly in the closing stages, to outwit their rivals. Divya (14) was the topscorer for CJM while Anushka scored eight points. Santana waged a lone battle against CJM to score 21 points.

Similarly the match between Mount St Mary's School and Modern School (Barakhamba Road) kept the spectators on the edge of the seat with MSM romping home winners 87-73.

For the winners Girish Jha and Raman Arora scored 29 and 28 points respectively. However, Siddharth of Modern topscored with 38 points.

The game between Sri Ram School and New Green Field (Saket) turned out to be a one-sided affair with the Saket team dominating the proceedings throughout. The winners were comfortably leading 25-13.

Ashish (17) and Arnab (12) were the main scorers for the winners while Shiv (12) scored the maximum for Sri Ram.

In the last match of the day, Blue Bells beat Amity International 54-31. For Blue Bells, Sahil (11) and Kapil (14) scored while Atrosh (10) and Shivraj (8) were the scorers for Amity.

APS triumph: Army Public School defeated St Xavier's School 64-37 in a one-sided final of the Niesen memorial basektball tournament, held at the St Xavier's School premises.

For the winners, Manish Sangwan (36), Anuj Tyagi (126) and Robin John (10) were the star performers. Piyush Kukreja also chipped in with eight points.
