MUMBAI, October 15: The incessant crying of a child at around 8 am awakened the neighbours of the Menezes family, and when they pushed open the door of Menezes' flat, they found Florien's body in the bedroom. They found blood splattered on the mattress, and droplets of blood dripping on the floor. The blood had dried up at some places. Sitting next to the body was an 18-month-old girl, Menezes' youngest daughter, who was crying.D N Nagar police said they have seized vital clues, including a slipper, after examining the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed the murder must have taken place between 5.30 am and 7.30 am.
Menezes' husband, Joseph, is a garage owner, and he was not present at the time of the incident. Two of Menezes' teenage daughters are studying in a Mangalore hostel.
Deputy commissioner of police, zone-VII, K L Prasad said, ``The murder seems to be a fallout of an extra-marital affair. The suspect is within our reach. We have almost cracked the case.'' Police are questioning JosephMenezes and his younger brother, who's also a complainant in the case.
