NEW DELHI, OCT 15: India's Pullela Gopi Chand was eliminated from the World Grand Prix series Badminton Tournament in Denmark today, losing 2-15 11-15 in the second round to Dong Jiong of China.The national champion had beaten Germany's Mike Joppien 15-9 15-4 in the first round earlier in the day, according to information received here.
Gopi Chand, who reached the quarter-finals of the Dutch Open last week, had led India to the men's team silver in the September Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. He later went on to clinch an individual bronze at the Games.
Shuttlers for Malaysia
BANGALORE: Three shuttlers, Nikhil Kanetkar, Ajit Wijetilek (22) and Abhishek Bakshi (17) along with coach Balachandran will be undertaking a month long training stint in Malaysia.
The training follows the discussion Prakash Padukone had with former world No 1 Morten Frost, who is currently the coaching director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, according to a Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy pressrelease here.
Meet postponed
BANGALORE: The junior Indian Grand Prix prize money Badminton Tournament scheduled to be held at Indore from October 27 to 30 has been postponed due to next month's Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, according to a Badminton Association of India press release here on Thursday.
