Girl recovered from West Bengal

FEROZEPUR, Oct 15: After 11 months, the Ferozepur police have recovered Mandeep Kaur, a student of the local Government Polytechnic, Ferozepur, who had disappeared mysteriously from the polytechnic, Gurcharan Singh Pherurai, SSP, Ferozepur, said here today.

Addressing a press conference, the SSP said that that Gurbax Lall, inspector in-charge of investigation, had recovered Mandeep Kaur from Dildar Nagar in Ghazipore district, West Bengal. Mandeep Kaur, while talking to mediapersons, said that she had left for Calcutta on her own where she lived with a Bengali woman. During her visits to the gurdwara, she had developed a liking for one Kamaljeet Singh with whom she had solemnized a court marriage in March 1998.

After the police recovered her, Mandeep's mother and uncle brought her back to Punjab.
