SURAT, Oct 15: Armed bandits struck at a bungalow in the Parle Point area of the city during the early hours of Thursday, injured a couple and escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs 10,000, the police said. Although no arrests have been made, the Umra police, investigating the case, feel the notorious Chaddi Banian Dhari gang may be involved.According to the police, around 1.30 am on Thursday, about 15 bandits, aged between 25 and 30, forced their way into Mohan Parmar's bungalow at Satkeval Society and used huge boulders and iron rods to break the bungalow's front door.
According to Parmar's statement, the accused wore banians and trousers and were armed with iron and wood rods, axes and pipes. Though both the victims, Parmar and his wife, raised an alarm, they were attacked by the bandits and threatened with dire consequences, the complainant added. Parmar received injuries on hands and abdomen, while his wife was injured on the head and hands.
The robbers took away gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 8000 and cash and managed to escape before the neighbours could reach the spot.
