NEW DELHI, October 15: Kiran, a 13-year-old maid, remained trapped in a crevice of a seven-storey building at Vasant Kunj for 36 hours till her rescue on Tuesday evening. She got trapped there while trying to escape from the flat where she had been locked up by her employer Alka Rastogi who had gone to Mussourie on Friday evening. The crevice was just four inches wide.
Kiran had been left at home ``to take care of the house''. But she decided to get out on Sunday morning. Her plan was to jump to the sixth-floor balcony. But when she crawled across its tin shed and tried to wriggle through a crevice, she got stuck.
On Tuesday, children playing in the park noticed Kiran's hand sticking out and informed the police. The girl was brought out by fir-emen and rushed to DDU hospital. A medico-legal case has been registered. Police officials said that Alka Rastogi had returned home seven hours before Kiran was rescued but did not notice the child's absence.
