Man stoned to death in Chanakyapuri
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, October 15: A 25-year-old man was found dead on the road between Taj Palace hotel and the Defence Officers enclave in Chanakyapuri yesterday. The police say the man had been stoned to death. The victim, Charles Smith, reportedly lived in the servants' quarters of house no: 202 in the Defence Officers Enclave along with his brother and sister-in-law. He worked at a marble tiles shop in Dhaula Kuan.A senior police officer at the Chanakyapuri police station said: ``There were stones lying near the body.'' Since the body had been disfigured it was difficult to identify the victim. The body was identified this morning by the victim's brother. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. A policeman said: ``We have not been able to interrogate the victim's family who are busy with the cremation. We will also question his colleagues''. Additional SHO (Chanakyapuri) Ramesh Chander refused to disclose the identity of the officer living in the flat. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
