CHANDIGARH, Oct 15: The final results of the Punjab University Inter-College wrestling championship held today at PU Indoor hall were withheld due to dispute arising in four weight categories 76 kg, 85 kg, 97kg, and plus 97 kg.The gold medalist in other four weight categories were, however, declared (54 kg, 58 kg, 63 kg, and 69 kg).
One of the leading colleges in the PU Inter-College meets -- DAV College, Sector 10, alleged that SD College, Sector 32, had fielded grapplers who are in service and their identity cards should be retained and verified by the organising committee. According to the rules, a sportsperson cannot participate in the Inter-College or Inter-University meets, if he is employed.
Meanwhile, manager of the SD College has also lodged a protest against the DAV College for fielding an `outsider'.
However, the written complaint made so far is yet to accompany the `fee'. ``The protest should come through the head of the institution,'' said Dr Kewal Singh, Director in-charge PU Sports Department, adding, ``that the concerned colleges is yet deposit the protest fee, if they don't make it within four days. It would mean that the matter is settled amicably''.
