NEW DELHI, OCT 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun its search for alliances for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will kick off the Delhi campaign with a rally at Chhatrasal Stadium on October 24.Senior leaders including Vajpayee, BJP President Kushabhau Thakre, Home Minister L K Advani, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana and Delhi Chief Minister Sushma Swaraj met late last night in this regard.
Besides discussing the impact of Swaraj taking over from Sahib Singh Verma, they also touched upon strategies for campaigning.
One of these is to hold meetings with various linguistic groups in the Capital in view of the electorate's cosmopolitan character. Ministers and party members of Parliament from other states would be asked to meet people who hailed from outside Delhi.
BJP General Secretary M Venkaiah Naidu said all senior leaders, including chief ministers, would be asked to campaign for the party.Asked if the Vishwa Hindu Parishad would also campaign for the BJP, Naidu shot back, ``How can they?''
He said the first meeting of the Delhi election campaign committee was held today, chaired by V K Malhotra, to review the strategy to be adopted in the Capital.
