MUMBAI, Oct 20: Top-seeded India's Prahlad Srinath and second seed Rovai Federico of Sweden posted victories in contrasting style but it was the qualifier Saurav Panja who hogged the limelight when he scored an upset win against seventh-seeded Marian Leysek of Slovakia and sailed into pre-quarters of the ITF-GVK Indian Satellite tennis circuit second leg tournament played here today.Srinath who won the first leg at Mumbai two days back without much sweat sidelined Praveen Sreenavasan 6-4, 6-4.
Former Indian junior national champion Saurav Panja scored an upset win over seventh-seeded Marian Leysek 6-4, 6-1 which lasted little under 60 minutes.
In another match, second-seeded Rovai Federico struggled to oust Hungarian Zoltan Boroczky 7-6 (7-2) 6-2.
Both the players shared eight game but it was in the ninth game that Srinath broke service and held on to his own to win the first set. It was the same story in the second which Srinath won 6-4.
Right from the first set it was Panja who held the upperhand but it was in the ninth game of the first set Panja broke Leysek and went on win the set at 6-4.
In the second set, Panja played like a champion and conceded only one game to win the set and match.
