Samajwadi Party seeks free electricity for colony no 4

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Oct 20: Samajwadi Party's local unit president A.S. Chahal today demanded free electricity for the residents of Colony No 4 "for the time being".Addressing a gathering in the colony, he said that as the residents of the colony were too poor to pay power bills, the Administration should not give them free power instead of "harassing" them by removing kundi connections off and on."Power is a basic need and these poor people should not be deprived of it," he said.

He reasoned when certain state governments were offering free power to various sections of society, why the same could not be followed here.

He also demanded provision of houses to the residents of the colony where, he said, electricity meters could be installed and subsequently they could be charged for the electricity used.
