Tyson gets second bite of the cherry
Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson's licence to box was reinstated on Monday, more than a year after he was banished from the sport for biting Evander Holyfield's ears. The Nevada State Athletic Commission voted 4-1 to reinstate Tyson's license after hearing testimony from the fighter himself, his wife, a panel of psychiatrists and sports legends Muhammad Ali and `Magic' Johnson.

Costa, Siemerink suffer setbacks
Albert Costa of Spain and the Netherlands' Jan Siemerink suffered shock defeats on the first day of the high-profile Lyon Grand Prix tennis tournament. Costa was beaten by 19-year-old Frenchman Arnaud di Pasquale, 7-5, 6-3 while Siemerink was beaten by veteran Italian Gianluca Pozzi in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Joshi, Singhi top group
Top seed Devendra Joshi survived a Sarang Shroff scare while Antim Singhi overcame qualifier Manish Adnani to finish joint leaders of Group A at the end of the NSCI Invitational Snooker Tournament league matches at the National Sports Club of India in Mumbai yesterday.
