KOLHAPUR, OCT 22: The much-awaited film on freedom fighter V D Savarkar better known as Swatantraveer Savakar will finally see the light of the day with Kolhapur's Shantakiran Film Studio being readied for its shoots starting from November 1.
Phadke has toured to many countries to appeal to the Indian community settled abroad to donate generously for the film. Not less than three directors have been changed. The script has been rewritten to polish it many a times.
Unhappy with the work of directors assigned to the project in the past, the reels that were shot abroad were scrapped. Finally, the project was handed over to Ram Gabale.
The studio, in the vicinity of the picturesque Rankala Lake, is full of activity with a crew of more than 50 backstage artistes busy with erecting a set of India House in London which was a home away from home for revolutionaries like Savarkar, Madanlal Dhingra and others.
The dream project of popular music director Sudhir Phadke, alias Babuji, is being directed by veteranMarathi film maker Ram Gabale.
The set itself is likely to cost about Rs 8 lakh. The team led by well-known art director Sharad Pol and Malkapur-based artiste Madhav Desai are scrutinising pictures of India House to provide authenticity to the set.
