MANSA, Oct 22: An assistant sub inspector at Sadar Police Station here has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act.According to the FIR lodged at Sadar Police Station, the ASI, Rajender Paul Singh had taken a bribe of Rs 2,000 and had demanded Rs 8,000 more from Raj Singh of village Chakerian, allegedly for protecting him in connection with the seizure of 26 kg poppy husk.
On receiving information regarding the intention of the said ASI, the incharge of police station reported to the SP (Detective), who conducted a raid and recovered Rs 2,000 from the ASI. Moreover, 26 kg poppy husk was recovered from Raj Singh.
In another case, an FIR was lodged against Avtar Singh and Darshan Singh (residents of village Bhupal) accusing the two for murdering Bhola Singh, resident of the same village. According to the FIR, both the accused had taken Bhola Singh to the grave of Baba Hari Dass on October 20, where they consumed liquor together. Later, they killed Bhola Singh and threw his body in a well. The police incharge of Joga Police Station is investigating into the case.
