Mumbai, Oct 23: The Kurla police have registered a case against Samajwadi Party Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Nawab Malik, local corporator Sunil Ganacharya, and 14 of their associates for ransacking the `L' ward office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) V Ramani said the SP workers, led by Malik, Ganacharya and local leader Abdul Hannan Khan, paid the ward office a visit to lodge a complaint against demolitions being carried out in Kurla during the past few days.
``As per the preliminary report received from ward officer Suresh Kothari, the MLA and his men threw a fit when they were asked to file a written complaint, and they suddenly started smashing the glass panelled doors and partitions of the ward officer's cabin. They even damaged the offices of the assistant engineer and the shops and establishments department and the corporators' room,'' Ramani stated.
Neither Malik nor Ganacharya were available for comment.
